Candle Care and FAQs
Candle Care
How should I care for and maintain my candles? Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch, this helps to prevent excessive flame and any soot.
What’s the best way to prevent tunneling in candles? When burning your candle for the first time, let it burn long enough (approximately 3-4 hours depending on the size) for the wax to melt completely to the edge of the container, creating a melt pool. This will help prevent tunneling and ensure a more even burn. On average, burn for up to 4 hours at a time.
Are your candles safe for use around children and pets? Yes, however be sure to always burn candles on a heat resistance surface and keep them away from drafts and flammable materials. There is always a risk when lighting a candle, especially with kids or pets present. Be sure to keep the candle out of reach and practice safe candle burning habits.

Soy Wax Facts
ʻIwa candle company uses USA grown ethically sourced soy wax.
Soy wax is made from soybean oil and is 100% eco-friendly, non-toxic and is fully biodegradable.
When burned, soy wax candles emit significantly less soot and harmful chemicals. This reduction in indoor air pollutants makes soy wax candles a healthier choice and is better for those with allergies, asthma or sensitivities. Soy wax is sustainable, renewable and has a cleaner longer lasting burn.
It is completely normal for soy wax candles to appear slightly uneven, rough, bumpy or cratered as they burn. This is a result of the natural properties of soy wax and how it cools unevenly, causing a textured or bumpy surface. The unevenness is a natural byproduct of soy wax and not a sign of improper candle making. This look is purely cosmetic and won’t affect the quality of the candle or how it burns.
The candle wicks are pre-waxed with soy wax and made from cotton and paper. They are environmentally friendly and do not contain any chemical substances or heavy metals.
